While you’re here - July school holidays

Why are you here in Mudgee?

The July school holidays & some precious time away from the work/school run! You’re taking advantage of the school holiday break to enjoy a trip to Mudgee.

So, that’s why you’re visiting. But what about while you’re visiting?

With two weeks to play, eat & drink, it’s the perfect excuse to soak up everything Mudgee has to offer.

So what should you do while you’re here? We’ve got a few ideas to suit families visiting Mudgee this winter.

While you’re here…

Enjoy the Small Farm Field Days: Head to AREC for Mudgee’s annual Small Farm Field Days. Expect farm animals, activities for the kids, displays, freebies & more. Tickets here.

Ride the (mini) train: The kids will love the Mudgee Miniature Railway on July 11. Run by a dedicated group of volunteers, this railway offers mini steam trains for the kids to ride & enjoy. Grab your tickets on the day.

Tour the farm: Experience a working farm with a variety of farm walks & tours on offer. Head to Aril Estate on any day in the holidays for a tour of their olive grove & pomegranate farm, plus free tastings, or join Mudgee Farm Walks on July 12 for a behind-the-scenes look at High Valley Cheese & Baker Williams Distillery. Grab your tickets here.

To market, to market: Soak up the best of Mudgee’s produce at the monthly Farmers’ Market on July 18

Visit NSW’s top tiny town: Head to Gulgong - just named NSW’s top tiny town - for a day of history & fun. Spend your morning at the adventure playground before heading to the Gulgong Pioneer Museum for a deep-dive into Australian history. Book a gold panning experience in the afternoon, or visit the Gulgong Holtermann Museum for a look at their world-heritage recognised collection.

Delicious donuts: A school holiday visit to Mudgee isn’t complete without a visit to Old Wheels Grind - Mudgee’s favourite donut van. Indulge in delicious, hot cinnamon donuts while the kids explore the old train & cars around the site.

(Not quite) Willy Wonka: get up close & personal with the chocolate-making process with a visit to Spencer Cocoa - Mudgee’s version of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. Learn how chocolate is made, meet the makers & sample some sweet treats for yourself! Book your visit here.

Look up: experience Mudgee at night with a visit to Mudgee Observatory. Gaze at some of the clearest skies you’ll ever see & count the shooting stars & constellations. Bookings here.
