Mudgee Monday | pet-friendly itinerary
Mudgee isn’t just for the girls’ getaways & the family adventures - your four-legged friends will have just as much to explore & enjoy as you!
But a weekend simply isn’t enough time to savour the best of the Mudgee region, so we’ve mapped out the best ways to spend a 3-day visit - pets very much welcome…
Friday
Bliss Stays’ pet-friendly properties
Arrive at one of Bliss Stays’ 65+ pet-friendly properties to get you & your pooch settled into your home for the long weekend.
Then, take a short drive to town for dinner at the Paragon Hotel, with their pet-friendly beer garden - the perfect summer spot.
Saturday
Mudgee Farmers’ Market
Pups at Three Tails Brewery
Start your morning with fresh-brewed coffee & breakfast at one of Mudgee’s pet-friendly cafes, like Alby & Esthers, with its leafy, cobblestone courtyard.
After brekkie, wander one of the Mudgee markets held every weekend, all welcoming your four-legged friends. Stroll the unique stalls, score some fresh produce, & meet the locals growing & making everything on display.
While you’re already in town, book a Mudgee Heritage Walking Tour - learn about the town’s historic buildings, local secrets & fun facts. Your pooch will love all the smells & friends they see (and sniff!) along the way.
After your tour, hop in the car & take your furry family to Slowfox Wines, one of several pet-friendly cellar doors across our wine region. Sample the best drops & their unique blends, reclining in their sunny, outdoor space that feels right at home. Their resident pup will welcome the company of yours…
From here, take a short drive down the road to Yeates Wine - wander the lawns, kick back by the dam & enjoy a few more local wines that pack a delicious punch. Mudgee’s cellar door scene welcomes furry friends, with many offering outdoor seating, water bowls, & space to roam.
If spirits are more your style, check out Baker Williams Distillery, with the likes of gin, schnapps, & other liqueurs, made in small batches with a focus on using local produce where possible.
When it’s time to refuel, head to Small Batch Brewery with their bao buns food truck, outdoor seating, & Mudgee vista. Try a few craft beers if you’re in the mood, while the family relaxes in style. Say hello to their dog, xx, while you’re there!
Head back to your Bliss home to give your pooch some downtime, before heading to the pet-friendly Three Tails Brewery for a smoked BBQ feast or tapas share plates. Alternatively, you can stay in & fire up your kitchen with all that market produce!
Sunday
Althea by Zin
Pups at the Pav
Grab a coffee and fresh-made pastries from Althea by Zin, then take a stroll around the Glen Willow walking track, with a stop-off at the Jennie Blackman Dog Park, so your pup can get their zoomies on!
If you’re visiting on the last Sunday of the month, take a trip to Lowe Family Wine Co for their Pups at the Pav event. From 9-11am, dogs are welcome to come & play across the lawns, swim in the dam & make new friends, while you enjoy coffee, pastries, & treats for your furry friends. You don’t need to book - just show up with your pup; don’t forget your doggy bags!
And even if it’s not the last Sunday of the month, this winery brings pet-friendly vibes in spades, with their own dog Jonte welcoming you to the farm + water bowls & treats for the whole family to enjoy.
From here, take the short drive out to Gulgong & stroll the historic streets of this former gold rush town. A lunch stop at The Centennial or Post Office Hotel with your pooch is the perfect way to refresh for the afternoon.
Dogs are also allowed inside the Gulgong Pioneers Museum, if you fancy a venture into historic displays, old wares & other vintage attractions. And for a dog-specific adventure, there’s a fenced off-leash area at Peoples Park in Wynella Street.
Make the drive back to your Bliss Stay in Mudgee, opting for dinner at pet-friendly pub, Lawson Park Hotel.
Monday
Sculpture Walk through Lawson Park
Rylstone Dog Off Leash Area
Enjoy your morning walk in the company of stunning sculptures in Lawson Park. Stroll alongside the Cudgegong River, admire the local bird life, then head back to town to grab a coffee from Millbrie or Eltons, where you can dine alfresco and watch the morning Mudgee activity.
When you depart Mudgee, call into Rylstone for a coffee, sandwich & snacks for the road. Then give your dog one last run-around in the park area behind the Rylstone Showground, along the river to the bridge.
